Step 1Register your qualificiation within 14 days with Ponies (UK).  Send the Registration of Qualification” Certificate plus £10.00 and 2008 Full Membership (if not already submitted).  PLEASE SEND TO THE P (UK) OFFICE WITHIN 14 DAYS IN ORDER FOR THE QUALIFICATION TO REMAIN VALID.

Step 2.  Declare your intention to enter the Summer Championships.  Forward Declaration of Entry for the Summer Championships and entry fee to be submitted on the P(UK) Summer Championships Entry Form to confirm participation in the Championship

FINALS TO BE HELD AT:  Newark & Notts Showground, Winthorpe, Newark, Notts 13th – 16th August 2008

EQUIFEST - The three highest placed exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the Equifest Final to be held at the East of England Showground on the 15th - 17th August 2008.

ROYAL LONDON - The three highest placed exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the Royal London to be held at the East of England Showground on the 29th, 30th and 31st August.

** SUNSHINE TOUR QUALIFIERS—Sunshine Tour Showing Series, 3 Have-a-G classes: In Hand Showing, Ridden Showing and Working Hunter Showing.  Final at Great Bookham EC, Dorking Road, Great Bookham, Surrey KT23 4PZ on 28th Sept 2008—qualification cards awarded in the ring.  See website for more info

 NPS CLASSES

NPS classes to be judged under the rules of the National Pony Society.  The first prize winner in the class will go forward to the final to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern in August.  A pony may only qualify once.  Where the first in the class has already qualified, the pony standing next in line which has not qualified will be deemed the qualifier.  Qualifications may only go to 3rd place.

QUALIFING ROUNDS ARE OPEN TO BOTH NPS MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS BUT ONLY THE HIGHEST PLACED NPS ADULT MEMBER (STANDARD OR SHOWING), ON PRODUCTION OF THEIR MEMBERSHIP CARD IN THE RING,WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO QUALIFY FOR THE FINAL. NPS ADULT/STANDARD MEMBERS WILL BE  REQUIRED TO UPGRADE TO ADULT/SHOWING TO ENTER THE FINAL .  QUALIFICATION TO GO NO LOWER THAN THIRD PLACE .  QUALIFIED PONIES MUST BE ENTERED INTO THE NPS COMPETITION FINAL WITHIN 14 DAYS FOR THE PONY TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPEAR IN THE FINAL.

 

MAIN RING—commencing 9am sharp

Class  101       PUK) BLUE CHIP FEED BALANCER RIDDEN COMPETITION SPORT/POTENTIAL DRESSAGE HORSE/PONY CHAMPIONSHIP

Horses and ponies may enter the ring individually and will be judged according to the PUK Performance/Competition class rules: Phase 1 - Performance & Freestyle show = 60 marks, Phase 2 - Conformation/Type and Suitability for Dressage = 40 marks.  The individual freestyle show must include the following movements in an arena no larger than 40m x 60m: Halt, walk on a long rein, 2-looped trot serpentine, extended trot on the diagonal, 2 looped canter serpentine which must include a change of lead, extended canter on the diagonal.  NOT TO EXCEED 2 MINUTES.  Snaffle or double bridles only to be used.  Please see page 40 for a diagram of suitable bits. Spurs may be worn, no change of saddlery will be permitted.

Open to confined novice Mountain & Moorland leading rein ponies not to have won a first prize of £10 or more in any open M&M leading rein class before 1st January in the current year.  Open to Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Welsh A & B, registered in their respective pure breed society.  Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 122cms.  Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year.  Lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.

 

Class 110         P(UK) BRINETON CONFINED NOVICE M&M FIRST RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Open to Confined Novice M&M first ridden ponies not to have won a first prize of £10 or more in any open M&M first ridden class before 1st January in the current year.  Open to Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, welsh A & B ponies, registered in their respective pure bred society stud book.  Mare or gelding 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms.  To be shown in any suitable bridle.  Riders not to have attained their 12th  birthday before 1st January in the current year. 

 

Class  111         P(UK) BRINETON M&M FIRST RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Open to Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, welsh A & B ponies, registered in their respective pure bred society stud book.  Mare or gelding 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms.  To be shown in any suitable bridle.  Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

NPS MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND QUALIFYING ROUNDS:  These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS.  Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books.  Part breds are not eligible. Ponies to be trimmed only within their Breed Society specification.  Manes must not be plaited and tails must not be braided.  All ponies in Novice and Leading Rein Classes must be showin in one of the snaffle bits illustrated in the NPS 2008 Showing and Competition Rules.  Qualifying rounds are open to both NPS Members and Non Members but only the highest placed NPS Adult member, on production of their membership card in the ring, will be eligible to qualify for the Final.  A valid Membership Card must be in the Rider's/Handler's posession on entering the ring.  The first prize winners from each class will go forward to the final to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show, Malvern, in August.  A pony may only qualify once.  Where the first pony in the class has already qualified, the pony standing next in line which has not qualified will be deemed the qualifier.  Qualification may go no lower than third place.  NPS Adult/Standard members will be requied to upgrade to Adult/Showing to enter the Final.  Qualified Ponies must be entered into the NPS Competition Final within 14 days for the pony to be eligible to appear in the Final.

 

Class 112        THE NPS MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND NOVICE FIRST RIDDEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Registered Mountain and moorland mares or geldings, 4 years and over, not exceeding 128cms (12.2hh) (part breds are not eligible).  To be registered in the respective stud books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & B. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but not to have attained their 12th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.  The pony never to have won a first prize of £10 or ore in first ridden classes or qualified for the NPS/Micro Demolition Mountain and Moorland First Ridden Final before 1st January in the current year.

 

Class 113        THE NPS/MICOR DEMOLITION LTD MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND FIRST RIDDEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Registered Mountain and Moorland first ridden mares or geldings, 4 years and over, not exceeding 128cms (12.2hh).  To be registered in the respective stud books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & B. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but not to have attained their 12th birthday before the 1st January in the current year (part breds are not eligible).

 

Class 114        THE NPS MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND NOVICE LEAD REIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Registered Mountain and Moorland mares or geldings, 4 years and over, not exceeding 122cms (12HH) (part breds are not eligible).  To be registered in the respective stud books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & B. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but not to have attained their 9th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.  The pony never to won a first prize of £10 or more in leading rein classes or qualified for the NPS/Micor Demolition Mountain and Moorland Lead Rein Final before 1st January in the current year.

NPS Mountain & Moorland Ridden www.horsequest.co.uk Silver Medal Rosette Championship

A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by The National Pony Society for the best registered pony in the Mountain & Moorland Open Ridden Section.  Exhibited by an adult/standard member of The National Pony Society.  (Champion or Reserve Champion only).   A valid membership card must be in the handlers posession on entering the ring and to be produced in the ring.  This section is to be run under NPS Rules.  NPS Adult/Standard members will be required to upgrade to Adult/Showing member to enter the final.  Winners are entitled to compete in the NPS Mountain and Moorland Ridden www.horsequest.co.uk Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in Malvern, providing they send to the NPS Secretariat, the relevant entry fee and qualification card provided with the Silver Medal Rosette.  NPS Silver Medal Rosettes will be awarded to the Champion pony (provided the exhibitor is an adult/standard NPS member) but if that pony has previously qualified then the Reserve Champion may receive the qualification card. NPS HOME PRODUCED MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN HAND CHAMPIONSHIP

 

All ponies exhibited in Mountain and Moorland classes must be registered in the main body of the Pure-Bred Stud Book of their respective breeds at the time of entry and entered in the name under which they have been registered.  Part-Breds are not eligible and are excluded   The Stud Book Registration number of the pony should be shown on the entry form.  These classes are open to ponies which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January 2008-04-07 have not been shown by a professional producer or stabled in a professional producers yard other than on a DIY basis.  To be owned, produced and handled by an Amateur who does not derive income from professional showing or ponies or horses.  Please enter this class n the spirit it is intended.

NPS Mountain & Moorland In Hand Kilmannan Stud Silver Medal Rosette Championship A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by The National Pony Society for the best registered pony in the Mountain & Moorland In-Hand Section.  Exhibited by an adult/standard member of The National Pony Society.  (Champion or Reserve Champion only).   A valid membership card must be in the handlers posession on entering the ring and to be produced in the ring.  NPS Adult/Standard members will be required to upgrade to Adult/Showing member to enter the final.  .  This section is to be run under NPS Rules. 

 

Qualifiers are entitled to compete in The NPS Mountain and Moorland In-Hand Kilmannan Stud Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in Malvern, or Championship Show in Scotland.  Qualifiers may only compete in one Kilmannan final.

 

NPS Silver Medal Rosettes will be awarded to the Champion pony (provided the exhibitor is an adult/standard NPS member) but if that pony has previously qualified then the Reserve Champion may receive the qualification card and Sponsor’s rosette (provided that the exhibitor is an adult/standard NPS member).
